ABOUT

The Besouro Mangangá Capoeira Sports and Cultural Association has a select group of professionals in charge of sports activities, both at its headquarters and its affiliates. Today in activity there are 3 (three) masters, more than 30 among foremen, teachers, and graduates, all with more than 15 years of experience in the practice of capoeira, working in Brazil, Japan, Colombia, Mexico, and Australia.

Everaldo Bispo de Souza

Mestre Lobão (Lou-b-un-o)

Born on June 7th, 1952, in the city of Itabuna - Brazilian state of Bahia. He started practicing capoeira in the 60s in his hometown training with Masters Antônio Rodrigues and Luiz Medicina. He came to São Paulo state, after the dream of a better life and at the recommendation of the esteemed Mestre Medicina, started training with Mestre Suassuna, in the Cordão de Ouro group where he graduated in the class of 1970.

In São Paulo capital city he met Esdras Filho and Lieutenant Esdras Magalhães - Mestre Damião, together with them, Lobão helped found the first Capoeira academy in Vale do Paraíba in the city of São José dos Campos in 1971 - the “Besouro Mangangá” Academy. Capoeira master for 50 years, Mestre Lobão is well recognized and respected wherever he goes, becoming a reference for national and international capoeira.

He participates annually in national and international capoeira events. Attending to invitations he has been to countries such as the United States, Canada, France, Austria, Belgium, England, Sweden, New Zealand, among others. Gives classes, conducts courses, lectures, workshops and has already taken Capoeira to the national cinema acting in 3 films.

As a great supporter of national capoeira, with creativity and competence, throughout these 50 years Mestre Lobão has been overcoming the challenges of living of capoeira. Furthermore, his works and everyday achievements guides and give meaning to the capoeira that made him a master. He received the Viva Meu Mestre Award (“Viva my master”) from the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (2010) and Mestre Cultura Viva (“Alive culture Master”), from the Cassiano Ricardo Cultural Foundation (2014). He actively participates in the Capoeira Safeguard group - SP with IPHAN (Brazilian National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage).

In his life trajectory as a ‘capoeirista’ (a capoeira player), beyond being a pioneer with the Capoeira Academy Besouro Mangangá in São José dos Campos and a  capoeira master, Everaldo Bispo is also graduated in Physical Education and has a postgraduate degree in Sports Training, he works as Coach in the Capoeira Delegation from the municipality of São José dos Campos, having expressive results with their athletes in the Regional Games and Open Games of the Inland councils from São Paulo State (over 280 teams). Always believing in education and the need for learning, Everaldo Bispo de Souza built a strong professional career and as Mestre Lobão, he managed to make out of his art, in practicing and experiencing capoeira, a life story.

Edson Pedroso Veneziani

He trains since 1971, being one of the first students of the Besouro Mangangá Capoeira Association. In his own words "capoeira is a fantastic sport, it is music, a game, it is a complete sport! I love it, I love capoeira! And it is not today .... every day I learn why capoeira is fantastic" . Mestre Bala has a rich collection on the trajectory of Capoeira in São José dos Campos, coexists with generations of capoeiristas and has been an example of persistence, focus, for not failing to train since the beginning of the Association, following his changes of address and experiencing much of these 50 years of history.

Mestre Narciso

Narciso Roberto da Silva

Born on April 10th, 1949; in São Vicente de Minas – Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. Since he was a child, even without knowing what capoeira was, he said he would practice capoeira. In 1976, during a visit to family members in the inland of São Paulo, in Jacareí city, during a carnival parade, one of the schools held a Capoeira exhibition. From the memory of these movements, he started to reproduce them with friends. In 1978, he migrated to Jacareí and visited the Academia Princesa Isabel, owned by Mestre Josias and started training “officially” and never stopped.

Mestre Narciso points out that one of the benefits of Capoeira practice in his life, was to develop musicality and to deal with his shyness.

He currently teaches at the Fisicus Academy, at the Condominium Alta Vista and at his residence, focusing on children, teenagers, and adults.

Fabiano Guilherme da Silva

Started the practice of Capoeira in 1984 at the Besouro Mangangá Academy with Mestre Lobão.

Since then, he has always been a member of Besouro Mangangá family, with great dedication.

In 1995, he started giving Capoeira classes in São José dos Campos.

He graduated as a Professor in 2008 from the Besouro Mangangá academy and this year, his trajectory completes 36 years.

Kleber Junior Moreira da Silva

Born on January 7th, 1980 in Taubaté- Brazilian state of São Paulo (SP), he started practicing Capoeira in the city of São Luiz Paraitinga-SP in the mid-1980s, with professor Bene from Capoeira Academy Ginga Brasil. In 2004 he received a graduation as Aluno Formado 3 cores from Mestre Quebrinha from Ginga Brasil. He joined the Besouro Mangangá Capoeira Sports and Cultural Association, developing works with Mestre Lobão. In 2016 he graduated as a Professor and in 2018 as Counter-Master.

Counter-master Tanque develops activities in Social Projects with children and teenagers in São Luiz do Paraitinga, both in urban and rural areas, providing opportunities that contribute to both physical and emotional development, as well as encouraging values through the teachings of Capoeira. He is also a holder of the intangible cultural heritage of making musical instruments used in Capoeira.

André Souza

He started in Capoeira in 1991 at Academia Besouro Mangangá with Mestre Lobão.

From 1996 to 2000 he taught Capoeira at UNESP college in Guaratinguetá.

In 2003 he started capoeira classes at ADC Embraer-SJC and since 2007 he lives in Singapore where he continues his practice with Capoeira.

Professor Caramba

Rafael Antônio Gonçalves da Rocha

He started in Capoeira in 1994 trough the council of Caraguatatuba, and soon transferred to the Capoeira Association Grupo Senzala of Master Sombrinha (Alberto José de Freitas) and MasterFala Pequeno (Manoel Ricardo dos Santos).

He graduated in capoeira with the master Fala Pequeno in 2008.

In 2013 he met master Lobão and in 2015 he started training at the Capoeira Academy Besouro Mangangá.

Professor Carcaça

Fabrício Gouveia do Santos

He started in capoeira in 1995 with his father (Master Saruê), who was also a student of Mestre Lobão.

Then he started training directly with Mestre Lobão, around 1996. Since then, he has been working as a Capoeira Professor at the Besouro Mangangá Academy and in Social Projects in the city of São José dos Campos.

Célio Alves dos Santos

He started in capoeira in 1999, with professor Bene, from the Ginga Brasil group, until 2005.

As of 2006, he started training with Professor Kleber Tanque, at Besouro Mangangá, with whom he currently trains.

Professor Cinzento

Franklin Adson Roque

He was born on May 14, 1979 in São João de Meriti-RJ. At the age of 14, after seeing a capoeira performance in front of the Jat Satélite Piratininga Supermarket, he fell in love and, as soon as he could, he enrolled at the Besouro Mangangá Academy to train on Saturdays and Sundays, since then he has not stopped with Capoeira.
He became a teacher in 2018, did volunteer work with the Family School Program in partnership with the SP Education Secretariat, also worked in university extension activities at the Federal University of São Paulo (Institute of Science and Technology), supporting the curricular units of Education of Ethnic Cultural Relations and Afro-Brazilian Culture.
He works in Cultural Management in Projects of the Besouro Mangangá Capoeira Sports and Cultural Association, as in the Brincante Maculelê Project: Culture as Resistance, of the Municipal Culture Fund and supports the IT area of the Besouro Mangangá Association.

Mônica Cardoso de Souza

Born on June 28th, 1985, the fact of being raised in the capoeira environment in a way that family and capoeira life fuse allowed the music, the history, and friendship in capoeira to influence her formation from an early age. She has always shown great interest in sports (fights) in general. She started training systematically at age 12 and never stopped.

In her graduating class, she is the only woman; the children's group of the Besouro Mangangá Capoeira Sports and Cultural Association is under her supervision. In addition to the work at the Association's Headquarters, Professor Mônica offers capoeira classes in Early Childhood Education Schools in the city of São José dos Campos.

Mônica has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, has participated in Regional Games and Open Games in the Interior, winning several titles.

Professor Nilton

Nilton Roberto Santos da Silva

Born on April 14th, XXX, in São José dos Campos-SP, his contact with capoeira has began since he was born, accompanying his father, Master Narciso.

He has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, works in Sports Academies and Residential Complexes in Jacareí-SP. Moreover, he also competes in Games and is a coach in Capoeira sports competitions.

He teaches classes to children, adults, and the elderly. The differentials have been working with functional training with Capoeira strokes (Capoeira Power) and training adapted for the elderly, where strength, balance to preserve cognitive functions in aging, with the quality and joy of Capoeira.

Professor Nilton

Carlos Alberto Broboa Becerra

Born on 05/07/1983, he entered capoeira by chance, when he took an experimental class thinking it was another martial art. He has been working at Capoeira for 20 years and has a great appreciation for musical art, likes to organize events and teach classes using special pedagogy and didactics for each student. UVM University (2006-2011), Gymnasium "La Base" (2007), Colegio Bambino Montessori (2011), Autonomous University of Guadalajara (2012-2014); has been teaching classes since 2001 at Colégio Del Pilar and leads the Capoeira Academy Besouro Mangangá México.

Professor Pé de Pato

Sérgio Latsch Junior

He had his first contact with capoeira in 1985, with Mestre Venâncio in the Sol Nascente group.

He also trained in the Cordão de Ouro group (master Tinta Forte) and in the group Anjos de Angola (master Alcapone).

In 1996 he started training in the Besouro Mangangá group.

Renato do Nascimento Grunervald

He started in Capoeira in 1998, in the backyard of his house, with a group of friends. In 1999, he joined the Mandinga de Escravo group.

In 2002 he started training at the Besouro Mangangá academy and started teaching capoeira at ADC URBAM and at Colégio Mater Dei.

Today he lives of capoeira, teaching classes in several schools in São José dos Campos.

Reginaldo Luciano Tolosa Lobo

He started in capoeira in 2002 in the group Ginga Brasil.

In 2003 he received his first degree.

In 2007 he started training at Besouro Mangangá Headquarters with the then Professor Tanque, in the municipality of São Luís do Paraitinga, with whom he trains until the present day.

Reginaldo José Evangelista

He started in capoeira in 1994 with Mestre Amorim from Grupo Meia Lua.

In 1997 he started training with then Professor Saruê at Besouro Mangangá.

After a few years away from capoeira, he returned to the Besouro Mangangá academy in 2006 with Mestre Lobão, where he remains until today.

José Henrique Medeiros

He started in capoeira in 1990 with the professor Benê (Benedito Galvão) in the group Ginga Brasil of mestre Quentinha.

His first graduation was in 1999. He trained until 2004, then resumed in 2009 with Professor Kleber Tanque at Grupo Besouro Mangangá by Mestre Lobão.

Takayuki Hashimoto

He started in capoeira in 2006 in Japan with the group Nação capoeira. He trained for two years and came to Brazil to meet Mestre Lobão, in 2008. In the same year, he joined the Besouro Mangangá group, where he remains associated today.

He started teaching capoeira in Japan in 2011 and in 2014, he held his first capoeira baptism at Besouro Mangangá Japão.

Marco Aurélio Lino Mariano

Born in São José dos Campos Sp on 09/25/1965; he entered capoeira through an invitation from a friend, today Mestre de Capoeira (Saruê). He serves as an instructor at the Embraer Sports Class Association, Ninho do Tucano unit.

José German Martinez Benavides

Born on 04/04/1985 in Colombia, he learned about capoeira through a film and started to practice capoeira. The learning motivation makes him want to improve his practice and transmit it in his classes in Bogotá, where he represents the Besouro Mangangá Capoeira Sports and Cultural Association.

Bruna Pereira Permejani

Born in 1985 in the city of São José dos Campos, started practicing Capoeira at the age of 14 with Mestre Lobão at the Besouro Mangangá Association.

In São José dos Campos city, she taught capoeira classes at the Association's headquarters, schools, gyms, and Social Projects.

Now she currently lives in Australia where she has already developed Capoeira classes in NGOs with Refugees and promotes Capoeira classes for children and adults.
